Problem & Purpose Statement

Problem Statement: Community Educational Services, a non-profit agency, located in San Francisco's Chinatown, needs assistance in developing marketing materials for the agency but lack the funding and expertise to market the organization effectively.

Purpose Statement: The purpose of the study was to develop and design a unified visual collateral for CES in order to increase the agency's identity and visibility within the community.

Short Intro & Bio

My name is Sherwin David, a graduating Visual Communication Design student at San Francisco State University. I enjoy the company of people, I am afraid of heights, I like the smell of gas and I can't leave my house without taking a bath.

My parents and well as the people around me inspire me to work hard and persevere despite all of the obstacles (good or bad) along away. My mother always told me to be prepared for any situation and compared life to war. "You wouldn't go to one with any bullets?" she's ask. Then again it sounded more poetic and lyrical in my native language, Tagalog.

Although my design philosophy is post modern and clean, I am what some would refer to as a graphic-whore. Regardless of the medium or media, I am attracted to anything that looks pretty or is shiny or just extraordinary. And because I am attracted to those attributes and
characteristics means that I am don't design strictly with one design philosophy but many different ones as well. Like my personality I am open and flexible.

After graduation, I wish to find a stable and rewarding career in the design industry. I have plans on going back to school, however, I would like to gain some real life experience in the field. Ultimately I want to become an art director, although I'm not sure which firm(s) to work for yet. Other dreams include writing a book, and developing and designing my own typeface.

Recently, I have acquired an interest for computer and digital arts. I want to keep growing in order to keep up with the industry of design and communication. I like Chuck Anderson's work. Much of his graphic imagery are eye catching and very dynamic. And he is definitely not afraid of color.

SIX WORDS THAT DESCRIBE ME: OPEN-MINDED, SENSITIVE, OUTGOING, WARM, STRONG, INDEPENDENT
